HOW DO WE MEASURE HEALTH?

According to the medical model indicators of good health are reflected by the following statistics for a population and can be divided into 3 main categories we will explore and several others just as important to the individual and population as a whole. Read more about these indicators

  1. Mortality indicators – measuring life and death rates
  2. Morbidity indicators – measuring the incidence or rate of illness and disease
  3. Health status – measured by the incidence of the absence of health and tracked by statistics of complications like
  • Low birth rate of newborn babies
  • High blood pressure
  • Chronic pain
  • Obesity
  • Arthritis
  • Diabetes
  • Asthma
  • Cancer
  • Depression

And so much more can be added that reflects the absence of health.

It is said you don’t know what health is until you lose it. That is so true and I have witnessed many patients reflect on this once they don’t have what they have been taking for granted.

That is the human nature to treasure only what one has lost. We don’t have to learn this way. We have evolved. We are no longer primitive man. A sign of our evolution would be that we can now learn from wisdom gained from understanding and no longer from having to experience the same old same old.

Health according to the Eastern Philosophies is making yourself whole and then maintaining this holistic state. A healthy mind and healthy body ensures a healthy person.

It is common knowledge that the key to health is the connection of:

  • mind,
  • emotions,
  • spirit,
  • the physical body.

Well if it is such common knowledge why is it that there is so much disease and illness in the world? Have we forgotten the basics? What are these basics?

We are more than this physical body! In the ancient mystery teaching we are reminded that the physical body is just a vehicle for Spirit to experience itself. Yes, we are Eternal Spirit having a physical experience!

In order to have this physical experience to the fullest we need the physical vehicle to be healthy. If we returned to health we would put the healthcare business out of a job and we can have the Shamballa we have come to create here on Earth. Wouldn’t that be something! We could all have fun and create all those magickal things we can only dream about while in our survival mode existence.

Imagine a world with no disease, no illness, no morbidity or mortality.

Living our lives in fullness and well-being!

Living according to our Divine Blueprints!
Energy in Motion!
Balance!

To be in balance requires not focusing on any one aspect more than the other – all in equal parts. Wholeness means the integration of the mind, emotions or soul, spirit and the physical. This is the basis of holistic healing.

Let’s have a look at the MIND….

Consciousness of our mental processes is the first step at becoming aware of how they affect our performance. For the greater part our thoughts are outside of our control, they seem to be on automatic pilot.

Everything starts from a thought and all thought is acted upon! If you remembered this how would your reality change?

Our mental clutter is what stops our ability to create. By slowing the mind down and slowing the brain waves down we are able to manifest more in life.

The power of meditation has been proven and many scientific studies has revealed the benefits of meditation. Even if you start with 10 minutes a day you will see the transformation in your life.

Meditation can have many faces and we will explore more in upcoming articles so keep checking back if you are serious about creating a healthy lifestyle and ultimately reclaiming your health.

You can start with a meditation practice today by taking a walk with your dog, sweep the leaves from the garden, water your plants, cook your favorite dish or just breathe with all your focus brought to the action you are taking. When thoughts enter just don’t entertain them and keep coming back to the task at hand. Try it!

Now let’s touch on the minefield of EMOTIONS….

 The Oxford English Dictionary defines emotion as a “natural instinctive state of mind deriving from one’s circumstances, mood, or relationships with others.” 

 From Latin “emoveo” to move. Energy in motion. To get these emotions flowing is the secret. In movement emotions are brought to expression and they can flow in a healthy and natural way. It is the unexpressed or suppressed, denied emotions that is stored in the subconscious that bites us in the behind and trips us up.

Movement can be the first step in reclaiming ultimate health and balancing the body, mind, soul and body. There are many types of exercise that can be used and we will explore more in upcoming articles. Choose a gentle start with something like Tai Chi or Qi-Gong or whatever unique exercise fits your body. Just get the energy and chi flowing because wherever there is stuck energy that is where dis-ease will manifest. Studies have shown that movement of any nature will enhance the mood and when the mood is elevated energy can start flowing. This will allow the chakras to open and greater connection with higher and divine energies will result.

Utilizing the full spectrum of life force on all levels. But what is life force and where is it seated? This thing called chi, ki, prana, mana by different traditions.

WHAT IS THIS CHI?

Here follows a couple of suggestions to get this chi moving but the list is endless so just find whatever you need even if you can only visualize or imagine it for now. New neural pathways will be formed in the mind and boom that is the start of transformation.

Love is not an emotion! It is a pure creational force of the Universe.

I challenge you to love yourself and return to the Garden of Eden within yourself. Inner Beauty restored will manifest in external results.
